Africa-Press – Eswatini. President Emmerson Mnangagwa has placed digital transformation and innovation at the heart of Africa’s development agenda, urging governments and businesses to seize the opportunities of the technological revolution.

Addressing delegates at the 57th Eswatini International Trade Fair on 6 September 2025, Mnangagwa noted that the fusion of digital, physical, and biological systems is reshaping industries worldwide. He warned that Africa must not be left behind.

“Digital transformation must be inclusive and never leave any community behind,” he declared.

Zimbabwe, he explained, has adopted the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model, which fosters innovation-driven growth. Through the establishment of innovation hubs and industrial parks, the country is seeing the rise of a new breed of entrepreneurs and industries. These innovations are already impacting agriculture, healthcare, mining, transport, and the energy sector. Importantly, they are also contributing to climate change mitigation.

Mnangagwa called on the public sector to provide quality infrastructure and affordable services, while urging the private sector to invest in green technologies, artificial intelligence, and science-led industries. He also emphasized the empowerment of youth and local investors as central to building economies that are both sustainable and self-sufficient.

“As Africans, let us continue to embrace the digital-driven world while asserting our self-sufficiency and sovereignty,” he said. “By believing in ourselves, valuing our own products, and investing in our own industries, we build stronger, more resilient economies.”

The President’s words aligned with the Trade Fair’s theme, “Digital Transformation 2.0 – Creating Business Networks.” His message was both a call to action and a vision for Africa’s future, where technology becomes a unifying force for prosperity.
