ZIMBABWE AND ESWATINI CELEBRATE TIES OF SOLIDARITY

Africa-Press – Eswatini. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s address in Eswatini was as much about economic cooperation as it was about celebrating the enduring bonds of solidarity and culture between the two nations.

He recalled with gratitude how Eswatini stood firmly with Zimbabwe during its most challenging seasons of political and economic isolation.

“Your consistent solidarity will forever remain etched in the history of our country,” he declared, earning applause from the audience.

The President emphasized that these historic ties, rooted in shared struggles and cultural traditions, are the foundation upon which Zimbabwe and Eswatini can build their modern partnerships. He highlighted that the direct flights launched by Eswatini Airlines to Harare have significantly strengthened tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, providing a living testament to regional integration.

Mnangagwa also spoke passionately about the importance of culture in nation-building, praising the Umhlanga Reed Dance as a powerful expression of identity and unity. “At the core of the development of our continent is embracing our culture, which is the soul and heartbeat of our nations,” he said. Preserving cultural practices, he explained, is not only a duty to history but also a guiding compass for innovation and modernization.

By linking economic partnerships with cultural heritage, Mnangagwa reminded the gathering that Africa’s true strength lies in embracing both tradition and progress. He urged both countries to harness their shared history, solidarity, and values as tools to navigate the demands of industrialisation and globalization.

The warm hospitality extended to Zimbabweans living in Eswatini was also commended, with Mnangagwa noting that many have made Eswatini their “second home.”

His address left no doubt: the Zimbabwe-Eswatini bond is a living partnership of friendship, culture, and shared prosperity.
