Africa-Press – Eswatini. Three ambitious companies based in Ntuthukwazi under Lubulini Inkhundla are seeking a combined total of over E6 million from the Regional Development Fund (RDF) to support projects aimed at boosting economic growth and service delivery in their communities.

The Regional Development Fund is a government fund managed by the Micro Projects Unit to promote rural and regional development. The fund provides resources for projects like rural electrification and other initiatives.

According to Bonginkhosi Mabaso, one of the spokespersons involved, the companies have presented distinct proposals. One company intends to purchase a tractor-loader-backhoe (TLB) to contribute to major construction projects such as the upcoming Pakeni Dam. Another company seeks to acquire a staff bus for transporting workers in the sugar industry and Maloma Mine. The third company is planning to buy a tractor that will be hired out to assist local farmers with ploughing and other farming needs.

Mabaso used the opportunity to urge community members to unite and form business groups that can also apply for funding. “This is not just about individuals. It is about communities coming together to create businesses that serve the people and strengthen unity,” he said, adding that such efforts could expand to benefit the entire Lubombo Region.

In a related development, on Friday the RDF delivered farming equipment to BUHLENI MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE under Herefords Umphakatsi during a ceremony at Mayiwane Inkhundla. The cooperative received a tractor and a range of farming implements valued at E1.4 million.

The equipment included:

Tractor

Mouldboard Plough

Disc Harrow

Trailer

Ridger

Planter

The RDF continues to play a critical role in transforming rural livelihoods through funding support and essential tools, empowering communities to pursue sustainable development.
