Africa-Press – Eswatini. Young people in the Shiselweni region have a new chance to gain practical job skills through a training programme launched by the Ministry of Education and Training. This programme is part of the Mkhondvo-Ngwavuma Water Augmentation Project, supported by the African Development Bank.

The goal of this initiative is to provide training in high demand skills, such as plumbing, pipe fitting, bricklaying, and automotive mechanics. There will also be agricultural training, which includes farming practices, extension services, and post harvest handling. This will help prepare young people for a variety of career paths.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 and must come from one of the three chiefdoms: Hosea, Sigwe, or Lubulini. They should be unemployed and not enrolled in any school or training institution at the time of applying. A minimum academic qualification of Form 3 is required. Candidates must also be physically fit and willing to undergo a medical examination. They should be prepared to study full time and take part in practical training activities in workshops and farms. Those already participating in another government-funded training programme will not be considered.

The programme is open to both males and females, with young women especially encouraged to apply. The programme covers tuition fees, and students will receive a monthly allowance to support them during their studies.

Those who are interested must submit an application letter that states their preferred trade, a CV, certified copies of their certificates, a certified copy of their national ID, and proof of their Form 3 qualification or higher. Applications can be sent by email to [email protected], or delivered in person to the EWADE offices in Hluti (next to the police station) or the Lulakeni Rural Education Centre.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, 10 June 2025, at 4:00 PM. This training programme is an excellent opportunity for young people in Shiselweni to acquire valuable skills, enhance their job prospects, and build a brighter future.
