Africa-Press – Eswatini. The national team, Sihlangu, has improved four places in the latest FIFA World Rankings.
The squad, led by Zdravko Logarusic, is now ranked 155th, up from 159th, among 210 member nations of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). This improvement follows Sihlangu’s goalless draw against Cameroon and a thrilling 3-3 draw against Mauritius in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers last month.
The rankings were released on Thursday, April 3, 2025, after the conclusion of the recent international break. This shift is promising, as Sihlangu had experienced a decline in rankings last year due to their struggles to secure victories or even draws.
Sihlangu garnered attention when they held the highly ranked Cameroon to a goalless stalemate in a match played on March 12, 2025, at the Mbombela Stadium in South Africa. Following the draw, Cameroon slipped to 50th place in the FIFA World Rankings according to the latest rankings
Three days later, Sihlangu found themselves in a precarious situation against Mauritius. Despite leading 2-0 at one point, the match concluded in a dramatic 3-3 draw.
Meanwhile, according to fifa.com, Argentina remains at the top, bolstered by impressive victories against Uruguay (1-0) and Brazil (4-1). However, the Albiceleste now faces competition, as Spain (2nd, up 1) capitalised on France’s (3rd, down 1) misstep in Croatia to secure the second position.
