Africa-Press – Eswatini. Simiso Masilela, the Green Mamba team doctor and a proud son of Lomahasha, has spoken out about the challenges facing young boys in his community. According to Masilela, many youths arae falling into destructive habits such as drug abuse and early fatherhood, largely due to neglect and lack of guidance. Determined to change this narrative, Masilela is committed to leaving a lasting legacy through sports, particularly soccer, which he believes teaches essential life skills and responsibility.

“Sports can teach you the basics of life, including discipline and responsibility,” Masilela said. “I want to use soccer as a platform to uplift the youth in my community.”

As a passionate soccer enthusiast, Masilela has taken active steps to help young boys in Lomahasha find opportunities in the sport. He is currently working closely with the recently promoted Tabankulu Celtics to scout and sign talented players from the area. This partnership aims to open doors for local youths to showcase their skills on bigger stages.

Masilela also called on other soccer teams from the Super League, First Division, and Premier League to scout talent in Lomahasha, emphasizing that the community is rich with skilled players waiting to be discovered. Beyond sports teams, he urged corporations to invest in youth programs, especially those involving sports, as these initiatives foster unity and help steer young people away from negative influences.

To keep the youth engaged and active, Masilela organizes training sessions at Madzalane Sports Ground from Monday to Thursday, between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. “Keeping the boys busy and active is key to preventing them from falling into harmful habits,” he explained.

Through his dedication, Simiso Masilela hopes to inspire a new generation of responsible, talented young men who can contribute positively to their community and beyond. His vision is clear, sports as a tool for transformation and hope in Lomahasha.
