Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has expressed deep appreciation for the tetfulo (gifts) presented to him in celebration of his Ruby Jubilee and 58th birthday, describing them as a clear reflection of the country’s development and the commitment of Emaswati to national progress.

The gifts, valued at approximately E18 million, were officially presented on Saturday, April 18, 2026, during a ceremony held at the Mandvulo Grand Hall at Lozitha Palace.

Gifts reflect national growth

Receiving the gifts, His Majesty said the contributions demonstrated the determination of Emaswati to develop their country. He noted that the scale and nature of the offerings were indicative of significant progress across various sectors.

According to the King, the gesture showed that Eswatini was advancing rapidly in terms of infrastructure, economic strength and social development. He added that such strides positioned the country on a path to soon be counted among the fast-developing nations on the African continent, and eventually among developed countries globally.

Encouragement to continue giving

The King further encouraged the nation to continue presenting gifts to Their Majesties, regardless of their size or value. He highlighted that in the past, some citizens may have felt discouraged from giving, believing that the monarch lacked nothing.

Dispelling this notion, His Majesty emphasised that the King carries the responsibility for the welfare of all citizens. He explained that as long as there are people still facing hardships in the country, it cannot be said that he has everything. Therefore, he said, the continued support from citizens remains important.

Indlovukazi appreciates turnout

Her Majesty the Indlovukazi also conveyed her gratitude to Emaswati for their overwhelming participation in the ceremony. She thanked those who contributed the 251 cattle, financial donations, food items and various other gifts.

She stressed that every contribution, no matter how small, plays a meaningful role in ensuring the success of national events. The Indlovukazi noted that the gifts would significantly contribute towards preparations for the main celebrations scheduled for April 25.

The gifts were extended by different kinds of people, including Cabinet ministers, under the leadership of Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, who gave the king a Toyota Land Cruiser Safari. Others who extended gifts included Emazinyane, Princes and Princesses, chiefs, Regional Administrators, churches, companies, individuals, and other members of the public

The ceremony formed part of the broader Ruby Jubilee festivities, marking a significant milestone in the reign of His Majesty King Mswati III, while also celebrating his 58th birthday.
