Africa-Press – Eswatini. The University of Eswatini, UNESWA, has formalised a Memorandum of Agreement with the Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority, ESWACAA, to roll out a Management Development Programme aimed at strengthening human capital in the country’s aviation sector.
The agreement, signed on 31 March 2026, will see ESWACAA professionals undergo structured training delivered by the UNESWA Entrepreneurship and Business Development Centre, in partnership with the Faculty of Commerce, with a focus on leadership, financial management, organisational behaviour and strategic decision making.
The collaboration brings together academia and industry to address skills development within a sector that is increasingly shaped by global standards and technological advancement. Through the programme, aviation professionals are expected to gain competencies that support effective leadership and institutional performance.
Speaking on the significance of the partnership, ESWACAA Director General, Andile Mtetwa Amaeshi, said the initiative is aligned with the organisation’s commitment to building a capable and forward looking workforce.
“We are committed to producing human capital that is strategic, adaptive and innovative, ensuring our leadership is prepared for the complexities of a rapidly evolving aviation landscape,” she said.
A key component of the programme is the integration of emerging technologies into professional training. Participants will undertake a course titled “Mastering Generative AI for Professionals,” delivered with support from the UNESWA AI Academy. The course is designed to equip leaders with practical knowledge on how to apply artificial intelligence tools to improve decision making and organisational efficiency.
UNESWA Vice Chancellor, Professor Justice Thwala, said the agreement reflects the institution’s role in supporting national development through relevant and industry aligned education.
“This partnership reaffirms our role as a national resource and a driver of socio economic progress, bridging the gap between academic excellence and industry precision,” he said.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the development of a more resilient and competitive aviation sector by ensuring that professionals are equipped with both foundational management skills and future ready capabilities.
