Major Nawettan zones are speeding up to finish their nawettans on time, as the 2019 Super Nawettan zonal football championship looms nearer.
The annual championship is set to commence next month instead of this month as earlier staged.
The country’s prestigious community biggest football festivity brings together Gambia Football Federation (GFF) recognized major nawettan zones to contest for the title.
The tournament attracts more spectators, ambiance and revenue than the country’s first and second division leagues matches.
First and second leagues coaches used the super nawettan zonal football championship to scout good players for their respective teams.
National coaches also used super nawettan to scout players for their respective national teams.
Serrekunda East won last year’s super nawettan title after defeating Brikama on penalties following their 1-1 draw in the regular time in the final, played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The East boys will face stiff competition from household names such as Banjul, Brikama, Serrekunda West, Sukuta and Gunjur for the 2019 crown.
