Ministry of Health charged with the responsibility of controlling and supervising of all health facilities including private clinics is concerned with the actions of some private clinics and non-governmental organization clinics operating in The Gambia.
The Ministry has noted with concern the high level of negligence and delay in referring patients to EFSTH and other referral hospitals in the country.
This, sadly is believed to have resulted in the demise of some patients.
Henceforth the ministry of Health wishes to urge all practitioners to desist from the practice of late referral and attempts at treatment of patient conditions at which they do not have the required expertise.
Failure to comply may result to closure and further appropriate actions of clinics found wanting. The ministry of Health is therefore soliciting the support and cooperation of the general public in this matter.
