Fatou “Toufah” Jallow, a former beauty queen in The Gambia, who accused the ex-president- Yahya Jammeh of rape, has strongly reacted to the recent comments made by the interim leader of the opposition Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) Fabakary Tombong Jatta, describing it as “very irresponsible for FTJ to make statement on behalf of a man, who never assigned him as the minister of his house.”
Ms. Jalllow’s comments came in the wake of news article published on Wednesday’s edition of The Point Newspaper, in which Fabakary Tombong Jatta claimed that she (Ms. Jallow) should in fact be thankful to the ex-president for all the monetary support.
He was speaking at a recent press conference convened by the opposition Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) on the recent white paper recommendations on the findings of the Janneh Commission at his Tallinding residence on Wednesday.
Reacting to these claims, the 23-year-old former beauty queen maintained that Jatta literally just repeated what he said earlier on and then said a line about monetary benefits that he didn’t further substantiate.
“It’s just a one-sentence attention seeking line. I have said this and I will repeat it again, I haven’t accused the APRC of rape, if FTJ and the party want to own this, that’s on them. Not me.”
She continued: “Again, until the man, who is accused responds, their grasp for last minutes resurrection of rapist personality is irrelevant. The point is, it is very irresponsible for FTJ to make a statement on behalf of a man who never assigned him as the minister of his house and sexual affairs. If Jammeh hasn’t mustered the courage to speak, because we all know he can,’ Yahya Jammeh is not dead.”
Fabakary, she went on, should do himself and the rest of the Gambian people a favour and drink some warm ‘attaya.’
“He would not use my name to get himself onto pages, incoherently ranting about his little heart-hurt feelings. Let the newspaper not contact me again on anything related to FTJ tantrums. Enough!” she added.
