Mamadou Lamin Dibba, a strong supporter of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has disassociated his party from the three years term for President Adama Barrow presidency.
Dibba was addressing an all Badibou UDP forum at the B.O. Semaga Janneh hall in Serekunda recently.
He said that the three years mandate was President Barrow’s campaign promise but argues that UDP is not behind it.
“UDP has nothing to do with the issue of the three years term. This was said by President Barrow through the media during his election campaign in 2016, that he would serve a three-year transition as he agreed with Coalition members; after which he would leave to continue his business, he recalled.”
“So now, why are some people linking UDP with the campaign for a three-year term for President Barrow, he queried.”
Part of the agenda of the said forum was to enable UDP supporters in Badibou to acquaint themselves with one another and foster collaboration among themselves.
Karamo Njie, spokesperson of All Badibou UDP hinted stiff opposition from the people of Badibou if Mr. Barrow forms his own political party.
“We cannot stop President Barrow from forming his own party but he should know that he came from the UDP.”
Omar Bah, UDP coordinator, Kombo East, described the party as a magnificent one that is admirable, while encouraging its members to persuade family members and friends to join the party.
