Africa-Press – Ghana. The government is to revive the Made-in-Ghana Fair to promote the local beverage industry and strengthen the visibility of Ghanaian brands.

The initiative is expected to boost local production and expand market access for Ghanaian beverages.

Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, announced this at the 10th Ghana Beverage Awards in Accra on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.

The event was held under the theme “A Toast to Ten.”

The Minister said the fair would promote local products and enhance the image of Ghanaian brands both locally and internationally.

She said the beverage industry remained a key driver of the economy, supporting sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, retail and hospitality.

“This industry plays a vital role in Ghana’s economic development, creating jobs and supporting livelihoods,” she said.

Mrs Ofosu- Agyare reiterated the government’s commitment to the sector’s growth and noted its resilience and potential.

She said initiatives such as the ‘Feed the Industry’ programme were designed to strengthen linkages between local agriculture and beverage manufacturing.

The minister urged industry players to improve product quality and expand their presence on the global market.

She said the government was also considering an Agribusiness Policy to promote value addition and provide a framework for business expansion.

Mr Ernest Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance, called on industry players to adopt emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance operations.

“AI has the potential to revolutionize how we operate, from predicting customer needs to improving product quality and operational efficiency,” he noted.

He said the adoption of AI tools would help businesses anticipate market trends and better understand consumer preferences.
