Africa-Press – Ghana. A total of 3,205 candidates from seven Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have begun writing the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The participating schools include Atiavi Senior High School (Atiasec), Abor Senior High School (Aborsco), Keta Business College (KetaBusco), Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco), Anyako Senior High School (Anyasco), Anlo-Afiadenyigba Senior High School (Afiasec), and Tsiame Senior High School (Tsiamesco).
Mr. Ferdinand Amuzu, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Keta Municipal Education Directorate, told the Ghana News Agency that six examination centres have been designated to accommodate the candidates.
“The centres are located at Afiasec, Aborsco, Ketasco, KetaBusco, Atiasec, and Anyasco,” he said.
The participation senior high schools include Atiavi Senior High school (Atiasec), Abor Senior High School (Aborsco) Keta Business College (KetaBusco), Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco), Anyako Senior High School (Anyasco), Anlo-Afiadenyigba Senior High School (Afiasec) and Tsiame Senior High School (Tsiamesco).
He detailed the number of candidates per school as follows: Ketasco: 1,295 candidates (671 males, 624 females), Aborsco: 525 candidates (246 males, 279 females), Anyasco: 343 candidates (131 males, 212 females) ,Tsiamesco: 46 candidates (24 males, 22 females),Atiasec: 80 candidates (58 males, 22 females), KetaBusco:. 585 candidates (197 males, 388 females) and Afiasec: 276 candidates (90 males, 186 females)
In total, about 125 invigilators and supervisors have been deployed across the centres to ensure a smooth and successful examination process.
Mr. Amuzu said the 2025 WASSCE commenced on Tuesday, August 5, with practical sessions, and is expected to end on Friday, September 19.
He advised all candidates to strictly follow examination regulations and avoid any form of malpractice, warning that violations could result in severe sanctions or dismissal.
During a visit to some centres, candidates expressed confidence and readiness for the exams, hoping for successful outcomes.
Meanwhile, 55 candidates from Afife Senior High School in the Ketu North Municipality have joined others at the Aborsco centre to sit for the exams.
