Yapra Rural Bank PLC Marks 40 Years of Rural Banking Services

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Yapra Rural Bank PLC, has celebrated its 40th anniversary of existence in corporate banking, with the commissioning of a three-unit classroom block for the Prang D/A No 1 Primary School, as a commitment to its corporate social responsibility.

The bank was formally incorporated on March 29, 1982, and commenced operations on December 8, 1983.

Speaking at the event held at Prang in the Bono East, Mr Sarkin Zongo Alhaji Osman Ma-awia, the Chairman of the occasion and former board member of the bank, provided a detailed history of the bank’s establishment, explaining that the abbreviation Y.A.P.R.A stood for Yeji, Abease, Prang, and Atebubu communities.

He commended the CEO, Alhaji Siiba Yakubu, and the board of directors for their commitment to the bank’s growth and development.

Alhaji Siiba Yakubu, on his part, expressed his gratitude for the bank’s success and thanked his management and board members, present and past, for their contributions to the bank’s 40-year journey.

He also appreciated the efforts of his staff members, and the bank’s customers for their loyalty and support.

He mentioned that the bank currently operated eight agencies in Prang, Atebubu, Kwame Danso, Kajaji, Parambo/Sawaba, Yeji, and Salaga and has a mobilization centre at Abease.

He expressed the bank’s commitment to providing customer-friendly and efficient banking services, with a vision to be the market leader in rural banking in Ghana.

The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Mr Samuel Agyapong, DCE for Pru West, and representatives from Abease Traditional Council, and chiefs from the surrounding communities.
