Africa-Press – Kenya. Congregants attending a church service at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Nyahururu were on Sunday subjected to mandatory security screening by the police.

President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are present at the Diocese.

A video seen by the Star shows congregants lined up at security checkpoints mounted by the police.

All attending the service have to go through body scanners and for women, their handbags have to be checked.

The additional security measures are as a result of the anticipated planned protests in Nyahururu.

This is after a section of Kenyans mobilized with hashtags “Occupy the Church” and “Occupy Nyahururu”.

Organisers of the anti-Finance Bill protests had in their program said that politicians who voted ‘Yes’ for the Bill should not be allowed to speak in the churches on Sunday.

President Ruto and Gachagua will also attend the Consecration and Enthronement of Rev. Maj. Samson Mburu Gachathi as the 3rd Bishop of ACK Nyahururu Diocese.

There is a heavy police presence at the church and around Nyahururu, with various roadblocks also mounted along major roads in Nyahururu.
