Africa-Press – Kenya. Police in Kiambu County have intercepted a significant consignment of bhang following a targeted anti-narcotics operation in Kibiku on Monday. The operation was conducted by officers from Kibiku Police Station in collaboration with the Kirangari Location Assistant Chief after a tip-off from the public.

According to authorities, the team recovered 1,508 rolls of bhang and 1.5 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, with an estimated street value of Sh200,000.

Police arrested one suspect during the operation. According to the National Police Service, the suspect has been placed in custody and is expected to be processed and arraigned in court.

The seized drugs have been secured at the station as part of ongoing investigations. NPS commended residents for sharing timely information that led to the successful recovery, saying public cooperation remains critical in disrupting the illegal drug trade.

Authorities added that the Service remains committed to combating narcotics across the country. On Friday, police arrested a man and recovered 51 litres of Chang’aa in Kabiyet Location, Nandi County.

The arrest was made when officers based at Kabiyet Police Station conducted an operation targeting illicit brews within the area. They also found 60 litres of Kangara.

The suspect was escorted to the station and placed in custody, pending further police action. The exhibits were secured and stored at the same facility.

Officers from the National Police Service in Teso South recovered five sacks of suspected bhang, weighing 69 kilograms with an estimated street value of approximately Sh2,070,000.

The officers had intercepted a Toyota Probox vehicle at Amaase Market and, upon searching, found the illegal substance. One suspect was arrested and is in police custody, awaiting arraignment in court.

The vehicle and the exhibits have been secured. In Laikipia County, a patrol operation by officers from Nyahururu Police Station produced a positive result in the ongoing effort against drug possession and distribution.

During a routine patrol in the Bagation area, police officers intercepted and arrested a male suspect found in possession of 15 rolls of suspected cannabis.

The suspect was taken to Nyahururu Police Station, where the recovered substance was secured as an exhibit pending further legal action. The police said such operations remain integral to safeguarding communities, particularly the youth, from the dangers associated with illicit drugs.

On December 3, police in Luanda Police Station in Vihiga County arrested four individuals for possession of over 10 litres of Chang’aa. The suspects were taken to the station and placed in custody for processing and arraignment in court, while the exhibits were secured in the same facility.
