COVID-19: Mega Dental donates medical equipment to Mauritius

Mauritius received, this morning, two tons of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, gowns, visors and goggles from the international company Mega Dental, to help the personnel of the Ministry of Health and Wellness strengthen its capacities to respond to the health crisis in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A handing-over ceremony was hence held, in Port Louis, and was attended by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, and Mega Dental’s Head of general services, Ms Sarah Boutet.

In a statement, Dr Jagutpal thanked Mega Dental for its support and assistance to the country and emphasised that the donation of medical equipment will allow frontliners to further strengthen themselves and ensure their safety in the fight against the pandemic.

He reiterated that it is essential for all resources to be brought together so as to find solutions and allow Mauritius become self-sufficient in the health sector.

According to him, the health and safety of citizens remains vital for Government and this donation comes just at a time where medical equipment used by frontliners are becoming scarce.

For her part, Ms Boutet, stressed that cooperation is a humane gesture, and that Mega Dental upholds the very principle of solidarity. She further indicated that Mega Dental has been working with Mauritius through their affiliate, Henry Schein (Mauritius) Ltd, for 15 years now. In this context, the company is committed to assist Mauritians during this difficult period caused by the pandemic through this donation.
