Africa-Press – Mauritius. In view of the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2027 to be hosted by Comoros, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Darmarajen Nagalingum, convened an initial meeting, yesterday at the seat of his Ministry in Port Louis, with representatives of sports federations whose disciplines will feature in the Games.

The aim was to reassure the federations of the Ministry’s support as far as preparation of athletes for the IOIG 2027 is concerned.

In a statement following the meeting, Minister Nagalingum underlined the importance of close collaboration between the Ministry and the federations. He highlighted that the Ministry seeks to remain fully apprised of training programmes and the overall progress of athletes to help secure the expected results at the Games.

He further noted that certain federations have expressed concerns relating to financial resources and coaching capacity. He gave the assurance that the Ministry would provide the necessary assistance to address these challenges so that athletes are not disadvantaged in their preparation.

Moreover, federations have been requested to submit a detailed roadmap outlining their training plans and performance targets. This, the Minister explained, will enable Ministry officials to monitor progress, identify potential gaps, and implement timely corrective measures where required.
