EU launches Cultiv’arte project to enhance Mozambique’s cultural sector

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The European Union will proceed, at 3:30 p.m. today, at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center in Maputo City, with the launch of the Cultiv’arte project – a project to strengthen the cultural sector in Mozambique. The project is implemented by Expertise France in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The initiative, which will last for four years, has a fund of 5,000,000 euros and aims to increase the contribution of the cultural sector to social and economic development, especially for young people and women as engines of change.

CULTIV’ARTE aims to strengthen governance and professionalization of the sector, including the use of digital technologies, through the enhancement of human resources skills; support cooperation and the creation of networks of cultural operators at the national and international levels (especially in the Southern Africa region and in Europe); and strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other decentralized public bodies to ensure a more favorable environment for the development of the cultural sector.

The direct beneficiaries of the action are stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries sector, including public authorities, creative entrepreneurs, artists, culture professionals, and civil society organizations.

CULTIV’ARTE consists of three pillars, namely, Incubation and Internship Programs tailored for young people, entrepreneurs, and projects in ICCs; Conference and Forum Programs, Grants for small, medium, and large-scale projects, and International Mobility for culture professionals; and Support for the operation of Cultural Houses in four provincial capitals covered by the Action (provision of equipment).
