Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR FC have officially announced the signing of Ivorian striker William Togui Mel on a two-year deal.
Togui Mel, 28, forward joins the Rwandan champions as a free agent after his deal with Turkish side Ankara Keciorengücü expired at the end of the 2024/25 season.
He previously played for several clubs including Difaa El Jadida, Ittihad Khemisset, and Rapide Oued Zem in Morocco from 2014 to 2017. He returned in Côte d’Ivoire to play for SC Gagnoa before joining Belgian top tier side Mechelen in 2018.
He, however, struggled to settle for life at Mechelen who, as a result, loaned him to various clubs including Espérance de Tunis in 2021, RWDM in Belgium, and Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel in 2022/23 season.
He then played for Tuzlaspor in the 2023/24 season before moving to Ankara Keciorengücü in 2024.
Togui Mel was unveiled as APR FC new player on the same day as 21-year-old defender Alex Nduwayo signed a four-year deal from Gasogi United.
APR paid a transfer fee of Rwf 25 million to secure the service of the player who will earn a monthly salary of Rwf 900,000, according to sources.
Nduwayo’s move to APR comes after just season playing for Gasogi United senior team.
The defender faces strong competition from the likes of Clement Niyigena, Yunussu Nshimiyimana, and Aliou Souane in the same position.
Kwizera comes out of retirement, rejoins Bugesera FC
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Janvier Kwizera has come out of retirement to sign for Bugesera FC whom he formerly played for.
Kwizera, also known as Rihungu, had retired from professional football in 2024 when he was playing for Police FC. He returns to football after a brief retirement, a decision he regrets, blaming it on lack of proper advisors.
Elsewhere midfielder Aimable Ntarindwa has agreed to play for Rayon Sports after penning two-year contract which will run until June 2027.
He becomes the latest addition to the Blues’ squad which has new faces in Gloire Tambwe, Prince Michel Musore, Mohamed Chelly, Chris Rushema, Tony Kitoga and Mohamed Chelly who all signed during the ongoing transfer window.
Lastly, winger Alain ‘Bacca’ Kwitonda is on the verge of joining Police FC and a reported two-year deal has been agreed.
Kwitonda became a free agent after APR FC released him at the end of the 2024/25 season.
