APR visit Musanze FC at Ubworoherane Stadium on Wednesday, February 12, hoping to win the first leg of the round of 16 of the Peace Cup 2025.
Odds are high for APR who have won the trophy a record 13 times compared to Sosthen Habimana’s Musanze who have never won the tournament which rewards the winner an automatic ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.
“The Peace Cup matches are always unpredictable and we anticipate a tough encounter because Musanze FC are a very good team, but we always hungry for silverware,” said APR defender Yunusu Nshimiyimana
“This is the chance to prove that we are good side and make our fans happy.”
Nshimiyimana said that confidence is high among players in the dressing room but they must knock Musanze FC no matter how tough they may be.
“I think we are capable of winning any game and the target is absolutely winning every game ahead of us. Everyone in team is ready to give 100% for the game,” he said.
APR FC will play this match without Arsene Tuyisenge, Alain ‘Bacca’ Kwitonda and Victor Mbaoma, who are preparing to return to the field after a few days on the sidelines through.
During the Peace Cup 2024, APR FC were eliminated by Gasogi United on penalties 4-3 in the quarter-finals, after the pair played a goalless draw across two legs.
Elsewhere, Rayon Sports also travel to Rubavu for their away match against Rutsiro FC.
Amagaju take on Bugesera, City Boys face Gorilla while AS Muhanga will be up against Gasogi United.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Mukura beat Intare 1-0 in Huye while AS Kigali overcame Vision FC 2-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium.
