Africa-Press – Senegal. Le Réseau des universitaires du tourisme du Sénégal (RESUSTS) a été lancé samedi à Dakar en présence du ministre du Tourisme et des Loisirs Mame Mbaye Niang, a constaté l’APS.

« Nous ne pouvons pas définir des politiques publiques sans s’y associer les universitaires. Je me félicite pour votre engagement pour accompagner ce secteur », a notamment déclaré Mame Mbaye Niang lors de la cérémonie de lancement officiel dudit réseau.

the meeting was held in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Air Transport, academics, tourism students from the Iba Der Thiam University of Thiès and the Cheikh Ibrahima Niasse University of Sine Saloum, as well as representatives of the private sector .

The Minister of Tourism has magnified this initiative which will make it possible to “use the know-how of universities at the service of the Senegalese tourism sector”.

“I decided with the agreement of the President of the Republic to associate the network with governance. Your network will be represented at the ministry by a post of technical adviser” promised Mame Mbaye Niang.

For her part, Aissatou Diongue, president of the network of tourism scholars in Senegal, welcomed the launch of “this tool which aims to strengthen the Senegalese tourism sector”.

“The RESUSTS is part of the beginning of a management dynamic that is more connected to the tourism and institutional sectors, to the private sector and to the scientific and university world”, she declared.

“The tourism private sector could better contribute to the performance of the Senegalese economy by strengthening its recovery in the path of its post-covid-19 recovery,” she said.

In its work, the RESUSTS intends to “support the supervision by carrying out diagnoses and prospective studies by developing strategic orientations”.

The structure is an initiative led by teachers and teachers, multidisciplinary researchers and Senegalese tourism professionals,” reads a presentation document of the said network.

Aid in decision-making, support for local authorities in their quest for a tourist identity, strengthening the professional integration of students trained in tourism professions, are among other objectives presented by the initiators.
