Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde welcomed the High Commissioner-designate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Syed Zahid Raza at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Monday 26th May 2025 ahead of his accreditation ceremony on Tuesday 27th May 2025.

Bilateral relations, Maritime Security and capacity building were some of the topics touched on by the two diplomats during their meeting.

High Commissioner-designate Raza reiterated the Pakistani government’s eagerness to provide training opportunities in various fields, such as Law Enforcement, Diplomacy and Banking among others; an initiative welcomed by Minister Radegonde.

Minister Radegonde took the opportunity to encourage more visits by the Pakistani Naval Forces which would lead to collaboration in the field of Maritime Security, commending Pakistan for its active participation in the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).

The two diplomats also discussed the possibility of signing a Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomatic and Official passports holders which, following that, could possibly lead to allowing normal passport holders to enter the Islamic Republic of Pakistan without a visa. He added that this would amplify the people-to-people relations between the two countries.

The topic of Trade was also brought up during the meeting, noting that the High Commissioner-designate Raza would be meeting with the management of the Seychelles Trading Company LTD, as well as representatives from SCCI to discuss opportunities for enhanced trade between Pakistan and Seychelles.
