Seychelles and Tanzania continue to build on relations

Africa-Press – Seychelles. The High Commissioner-designate of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Dr. Bernard Yohana Kibesse, paid a courtesy visit on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Monday 26th May 2025.

The two diplomats recalled Seychelles and Tanzania’s historic relations, which existed long before the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1986.

They discussed several ongoing bilateral issues, including negotiations on various legal instruments in the field of tourism, fisheries, the General Cooperation Agreement, and health. Both sides agreed that another priority would be the signing of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, which has already been initialed in 2013.

In the field of Tourism, Minister Radegonde noted that Seychelles and Tanzania could learn a lot from each other as both countries faced similar challenges. The idea of a two-centre destination package for visitors was also brought up during their meeting.

They also discussed the issue of Maritime Security whereby Minister Radegonde encouraged more collaboration between the two countries in this field noting that both countries are part of the Contact Group on Illicit Maritime Activities (CGIMA), of which Seychelles is currently the chair.

High Commissioner-designate Kibesse will be presenting his Letter of Credence to President Ramkalawan on Tuesday 27th May 2025.
