Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Civil rights activist Thomas Moore Conteh, the Executive Director, Citizens Advocacy Network (CAN) has issued a strong critique of President Julius Maada Bio’s administration, accusing it of failing to deliver on public expectations over the past seven years.

He linked this failure to ongoing conflicts within the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), which he said are affecting national development and weakening investor confidence.

During a recent online interview, Moore said that the public’s level of trust in the government has dropped significantly. He explained that the leadership shown by the SLPP under President Bio has not produced the results that many Sierra Leoneans were expecting when they voted in previous elections. He added that many people now feel disappointed by the lack of visible progress.

Moore pointed directly to the internal frictions within the SLPP, stressing that the party appears deeply divided. According to him, these ongoing tensions are affecting how government business is carried out, especially in terms of public service delivery. He said that when a party in power is not united, it becomes very difficult to manage national affairs in a stable and focused manner.

He also said that this kind of political division is being noticed by potential investors. Moore explained that investors often look for signs of stability and coordination within a government before committing funds or launching long-term projects. He believes the current image of the SLPP is not sending that signal.

According to Moore, when leading figures in the ruling party are seen arguing or confronting each other in public, it raises questions about the strength of the government’s leadership. He said this creates an impression that there is confusion at the top, and that such conditions are not good for attracting meaningful investment.

He added that a united government has a better chance of delivering services and managing national programs efficiently. When that unity is missing, he said, the entire system can slow down, and both citizens and economic partners begin to lose confidence.

Moore’s comments come at a time when Sierra Leone is facing several economic and social challenges. Issues such as high inflation, youth unemployment, and limited access to basic services have continued to affect daily life across the country. Many citizens have also been raising concerns about governance, transparency, and accountability in recent years.

The Sierra Leone People’s Party has not yet made any official response to the statements made by Thomas Moore Conteh during the interview.
