Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Central One Football Association (COFA) has confirmed that 34 communities will compete in this year’s Inter-Community Football League, with the champions set to receive a prize of NLe 110,000 and the runners-up NLe 60,000.

The announcement was made by COFA Chairman Philipson Cline-Cole during a one-day seminar for participating teams held at Loko Baptist Church, Parade Grounds, on Thursday, August 29, 2025.

Originally, 32 teams had confirmed participation. However, after the intervention of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA), Bambra Town and Fourah Town were added to the lineup, bringing the total to 34. Defending champions Fourah Bay Community will open the tournament on Sunday, August 31, against Belgium Sellers in a highly anticipated fixture.

The seminar aimed to promote discipline and sportsmanship while strengthening participants’ knowledge in football management. Sessions covered a wide range of topics including football administration, coaching methods, refereeing standards, medical and physiotherapy protocols, and sports reporting. Presentations were delivered by experts in football governance, coaching, refereeing, and sports medicine.

Chairman Cline-Cole also confirmed that the tournament would receive sponsorship from philanthropist Mohamed Omodu Kamara (popularly known as Jagaban), alongside Elephant Bet and the Say No to Drugs and Say No to Violence Campaigns.

With community pride and a significant cash prize at stake, fans across Freetown and beyond are looking forward to a fiercely competitive tournament that will showcase local football talent.
