Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Alhaji Sidi Yayah Tunis, the National Publicity Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), has reassured Sierra Leoneans that the party will stand firm against any actions taken by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) that contradict the public interest.
In a recent statement, Tunis outlined several critical issues currently under debate, including the choice of electoral system for the country and proposals for creating additional districts. He emphasized that the APC remains committed to protecting the welfare of the people in opposition.
“We will not sit and watch the SLPP flout the laws of the country and get away with it,” Tunis declared. He criticized the ruling party for its perceived disregard for legal processes and warned that the APC would not passively accept any decisions that lack the approval of the Sierra Leonean populace.
The APC has been accused by the SLPP of being destructive in its opposition, but Tunis countered that this may be the time for the party to adopt a more assertive stance. “If they think we can just sit and watch them this time around, that is a lie,” he asserted.
Tunis reiterated that any government proposals, including the creation of new districts and changes to proportional representation, would face strong opposition if they do not align with the people’s wishes. He assured that the APC would support the citizens of Sierra Leone and challenge any measures that do not reflect their approval.
