Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Save the Children has commenced a training programme for 255 teachers in Kailahun District on the Child and Adolescent Health Life Skills Curriculum, aimed at equipping educators with the knowledge and tools to support the well-being and development of pupils.

According to Save the Children, 255 teachers in Kailahun District will be trained and equipped with knowledge on the Child and Adolescent Health Life Skills (CAHLS) Curriculum. The training is being conducted in collaboration with School Quality Assurance Officers.

The first group of 57 teachers has already commenced training and is expected to complete the curriculum by July 24, 2025. The second and third groups will follow immediately after.

These teachers are drawn from ten communities across Kailahun District, representing 78 primary and secondary schools. They are expected to pass on the knowledge gained to thousands of children in their respective schools.

Upon completion of the training, each teacher will receive a copy of the full curriculum, a register to track the number of children benefiting from the lessons, and a ledger to document challenges and successes.

The initiative is part of Save the Children’s Strengthening Adolescent Reproductive Health and Rights project, which aims to equip educators with the tools and knowledge needed to support the health and well-being of children and adolescents in Sierra Leone.
