Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Sierra Leone, in collaboration with partners and the Government of Sierra Leone, welcomed 124 Sierra Leonean nationals who returned from Niger.
The returnees comprises of 76 females and 48 males, among them are 65 children, including 33 girls and 32 boys.
Working in collaboration with government authorities and partner organizations, IOM Sierra Leone facilitated the return and provided immediate assistance upon arrival. The returnees received health screenings and psychosocial support aimed at addressing both physical and emotional needs after their journey.
To ensure safety and comfort, temporary shelter and meals were also made available. Furthermore, transportation arrangements were put in place to reunite individuals with their respective communities across the country.
The coordinated response underscores the ongoing commitment of IOM and the Government of Sierra Leone to provide humane and dignified support to nationals stranded abroad. It also highlights the importance of partnerships in ensuring the smooth reintegration of returnees into society.
