Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has convened a panel meeting with the Board of Trustees and senior management of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) to address concerns related to welfare and governance.

During the meeting, Minister Bah described the discussions as encouraging, noting that they engaged in honest dialogue about the challenges facing SLBC, including staff welfare, operational issues, limited resources, and the balance of power within the corporation. He emphasized that these are significant issues that require collaborative solutions.

Accompanied by his Deputy Minister, Bah addressed the concerns raised by all parties and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting SLBC’s transformation. The meeting concluded with an agreement on practical steps to strengthen governance, build capacity, and ensure ongoing communication between the Board and Management in compliance with legal frameworks.

Most importantly, participants left the meeting united in their goal to tackle the challenges and work towards making SLBC a professional, citizen-focused public broadcaster.

Few weeks back, employees of the institution organized a strike against the board for different concerns ranging from low salary wages, inadequate compensation and restrictive directives from the board among others.
