Kissy Police Division Opens New Investigations Office

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Kissy Police Division has officially opened a newly constructed Investigations Office (I-Branch), designed to improve the handling of criminal cases and strengthen community–police relations. The commissioning ceremony took place at the Dr. Mohamed Tunde Macarthy Hall in Kissy.

Local Unit Commander (LUC) CSP Eric Murana Kamara thanked Dr. Mohamed Tunde Macarthy for financing the project, noting that his support has boosted staff morale and aligns with the vision of Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu to transform the Sierra Leone Police into a more service-oriented institution.

Dr. Macarthy, a US-based medical doctor and lecturer, said his contribution reflects his long-standing commitment to national service and community development. He highlighted his previous support for building mosques, providing water wells, and assisting the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF). “I don’t direct my support to individuals but towards initiatives that benefit communities,” he stressed, encouraging others to invest in community-driven projects.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Patrick Lahai Dumbuya, Deputy Regional Commander Freetown-East, delivered the keynote address on behalf of the Inspector General. He praised Dr. Macarthy’s efforts and emphasized the importance of community engagement in modern policing. “When the police work hand-in-hand with the people, the burden becomes lighter and the outcomes more successful,” he said.

During the event, the Local Police Partnership Board (LPPB) honored Dr. Macarthy with a plaque, a framed portrait, a commemorative T-shirt, and the title of Honorary Adviser. Community leaders including Alhaji Algassimu Sesay, Alhaji Nabieu Kajue (Pinco), Chief Alhaji Hassan Kamara, and Mammy Haja Turay also applauded his contributions.

The event ended with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the entrance of the new I-Branch office.
