Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. In a proactive move to strengthen public safety ahead of the festive season, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has installed security lights along key sections of the Aberdeen–Lumley beach axis.
The initiative aims to improve nighttime visibility, boost security presence, and create a safer environment for citizens and visitors who frequent the area.
The lighting project, which targets strategic dark spots along the beachfront, aligns with the vision of Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu to transform the SLP from a force into a service-oriented institution.
According to the police, the enhanced lighting will support effective patrols and deter criminal activity as thousands of people are expected to visit the beach for social gatherings and entertainment.
Residents and business owners have praised the move as timely and commendable. Many expressed renewed confidence in the police’s commitment to public safety, noting that improved visibility will help reduce fear and promote a more secure festive atmosphere.
The installation of the security lights is part of ongoing efforts by the SLP to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen community safety across the country.
