Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, has on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, appointed Mr. Faissal D. Antar as the country’s Special Envoy for Tourism and Investment.
According to an official statement from the Office of the President, the appointment was made pursuant to Section 53 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone 1991.
The statement noted that “His Excellency the President has graciously approved your appointment as Special Envoy for Tourism and Investment.”In his new role, Antar’s duties will include promoting and strengthening links with states of concern, promoting Sierra Leone’s business, products, and trade interests abroad, and identifying trade and investment opportunities in emerging and growth markets for the attention of the appropriate authorities.
The statement further emphasized that Antar’s activities must be consistent with the foreign policy and other sectoral policies of the Government of Sierra Leone, and that he will be required to liaise with the relevant Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Embassies/Missions.
Notably, the appointment is on a voluntary basis, and Antar will not receive any remuneration from the government. However, the government has reserved the right to revoke the appointment if deemed necessary.
The Office of the President has instructed Mr. Antar to indicate his acceptance of the appointment in writing.
