The visit, led by Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara, featured the senior national team, the Sierra Queens, and the National U17 Female Team, who presented their gold medals and trophies to the President. This marks the first time in the nation’s football history that Sierra Leone has won both the senior and U17 categories in a single regional tournament.

“This moment is a direct result of your record-breaking support towards the growth of football in Sierra Leone, especially women’s football,” stated SLFA President Kamara, addressing President Bio. In his remarks, President Bio congratulated the players, coaches, and SLFA leadership for their outstanding performance. He commended their hard work, discipline, and dedication, describing the triumph as a testament to Sierra Leone’s sporting potential and a motivation for the next generation of athletes.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh and Minister of Sports Augusta James-Teima.

On the sidelines of the event, President Bio officially launched the FIFA Football for Schools Project by symbolically distributing 8,000 footballs donated by FIFA. The initiative aims to integrate the sport into the educational system to promote physical activity, teamwork, and life skills among schoolchildren across the country.

The event solidified a landmark achievement for women’s football in Sierra Leone, cementing the country’s growing reputation on the regional stage.
