Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has started a new operation to remove illegal garages and roadside obstructions across Freetown.
The first phase of the move began on Monday, 5th May 2025, along the Hill Side Bypass Road at Dawazark Junction.
Executive Director of SLRSA, Mr. James Baggie Bio, led the operation. The team cleared vehicles, motorbikes, Kekehs, and other items that were parked or left along the road without permission.
According to SLRSA, the operation will continue in other parts of the city where street garages are causing problems for drivers and pedestrians.
The launch brought together several key officials including SLRSA Deputy Executive Director and Head of Operations, Mr. Josie A. Scott-Manga; Director of Safety and Enforcement, Mr. Augustine Kaitongi; Director of Traffic; and the Joint Operation Team made up of the Sierra Leone Police and Road Safety Corps.
SLRSA says the goal is to improve safety and traffic flow by making sure public roads are clear and used properly.
