On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat summon its first inter-agency meeting at the Secretariat’s conference room, engaging key stakeholders including the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone, Political Parties Regulation Commission, Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation, Independent Police Complaint Board, and the Public Sector Reform Unit.

The meeting focused on the implementation of tripartite recommendations relevant to each agency. Ngolo Katta, Coordinator for the Tripartite Secretariat, emphasized the importance of tracking progress through data, which would help identify challenges that might attract donor support.

Katta acknowledged the significant efforts made by various agencies, underscoring the need for transparency in reporting to both the Tripartite Steering Committee and the public. “It is our responsibility to keep the public informed at every step of the implementation process,” he stated.

ECSL reported on 65 recommendations, with many currently being implemented, particularly in developing the Commission’s strategic plan. Notably, Recommendations 1 and 3, pertaining to consultation and information management policies, are nearing completion with the assistance of a consultant hired by the EU.

The Executive Secretary of ECSL also announced that UNDP would assign experts to conduct a visibility study to support the development of an operational plan for voter registration and result management.

PPRC discussed nine legislative recommendations, highlighting critical issues such as managing political finances and addressing militia formations by political parties.

SLBC’s Director-General, Josephine Kamara, stated they were awaiting a management and functional review from PSRU to tackle institutional challenges and improve governance, including mechanisms for airtime allocation to political parties during elections.

The IPCB is working on a communication campaign plan and efforts to enshrine its mandate into law, while PSRU is processing management reviews for SLBC and IPCB, with draft reports in progress.

The inter-agency meeting concluded with a proposal to rotate hosting responsibilities among agencies to foster camaraderie and a shared vision for implementing the tripartite recommendations.
