Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA‘S Minister for Energy, Deogratius Ndejembi, held talks with Zambia’s Minister of Energy, Makozo Chikote, to explore ways of strengthening and advancing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the oil and gas sub-sector.
The meeting took place on March 27, 2026, in Lusaka, and was attended by the Permanent Secretary in Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy responsible for Petroleum and Gas, James Mataragio, as well as Tanzania’s Ambassador to Zambia, Mathew Edward Mkingule. Technical experts from the Ministry of Energy and its affiliated institutions were also present.
During the discussions, both sides emphasized the importance of sustaining the long-standing cooperation between Tanzania and Zambia in the energy sector, particularly in the management and utilization of the TAZAMA oil pipeline, which serves as a critical link for transporting petroleum products from the port of Dar es Salaam to Zambia.
The partnership has been credited with enhancing energy security and supporting economic growth in both countries. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening this cooperation to meet current and future energy demands.
