Africa-Press – Tanzania. CONTRACTORS across the country have been urged to strictly adhere to laws, regulations, and procedures guiding the construction sector, including registering projects they undertake and avoiding the misuse of their company names by unqualified firms.

The call was made yesterday by the Registrar of the Contractors Registration Board (CRB), Engineer Rhoben Nkori, while closing a three-day special training on Corporate Governance held in Mwanza over the weekend.

Engineer Nkori said the training aimed to equip contractors with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement construction projects efficiently and in line with required standards.

“Through this training, I believe you have learned many important lessons that will help you in your work. It is vital to establish a culture of continuous learning to strengthen your capacity to deliver quality projects,” he said.

He further stressed the importance of protecting the integrity and reputation of the contracting profession by upholding the law.

“We must not allow anyone to break the law and tarnish the image of this sector. If we see a colleague going against the rules, it is our duty to advise and guide them instead of allowing them to damage the industry,” he added.

Engineer Nkori also cautioned against the practice of some contractors accepting bribes to have their company names displayed on project signboards illegally, warning that such behavior undermines the dignity of the profession.

He noted that the construction sector is complex and requires professionalism and diligence to ensure that projects are delivered with quality, within budget, and on time.

On their part, some participants said the training offered them an opportunity to share experiences and exchange knowledge on various construction methods, which will enable them to adapt to technological changes in the industry.

The training brought together contractors from different regions across Tanzania.
