Africa-Press – Tanzania. IN a rare but exemplary action, Mr Prosper Rweyendera (79), a resident of Ijumbi Ward, in Muleba District has donated land and a building freely to the Tanzania Police Force.
Kagera Regional Police Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Blasius Chatanda received the donation on Wednesday and highly commended Mr Rweyendera for the timely donation.
“Land in Kagera is highly valuable asset and not easily available. I commend Mr Rweyendera for his kind heart because he would have used the land for his personal interests, but instead he opted to offer the land to the Police Force. This is a generous act which should be emulated by other people,” he said.
SACP Chatanda also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and unity, noting that a peaceful environment enhances the quality of life.
With peace, people can pursue their dreams, access education and healthcare, and live without fear of violence or discrimination. Unity fosters a sense of belonging and support, improving mental and emotional well-being,” he said.
He added: “Tanzania is one of the most peaceful and politically stable countries in Africa. Since its independence in 1961, the country has never experienced a civil war or any major internal strife. Tanzanians continue to live in peace and with a sense of a common national identity without ethnic division.”
Speaking during the handover, Mr Rweyendera, said development was critical and people need police cooperation in their respective areas.
“We have a common mission and we are very much committed to it. We will provide all that is necessary and required on our part to ensure that peace is maintained,” he said.
