Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has launched a new ambulance boat to serve residents of Kojani Island in Wete District, Pemba, promising to ensure the service operates around the clock by constructing a jetty or designated docking area.
Dr Mwinyi, who is also the CCM presidential candidate for Zanzibar, made the promise while addressing residents of the islet after handing over the new boat and appealing for their support in the October 29 general election.
He said the government remains committed to improving healthcare services in small islands communities, noting that a proper docking facility would enable the new ambulance boat to operate smoothly both day and night.
“We will make sure this patient boat provides services 24 hours a day. The government is assessing the possibility of building a jetty or excavating part of the shoreline so that the boat can dock safely at all times,” Dr Mwinyi said.
The President added that the ongoing construction of a modern health centre on the island would further reduce the need for residents to travel across the sea in search of medical services.
On education, Dr Mwinyi said Kojani residents should expect a new multi-storey schools to address classroom shortages and eliminate double shifts, ensuring all students attend morning sessions only.
“Over the next five years, the government will build 29 multi-storey schools equipped with modern teaching and learning materials to continue improving students’ performance — and we are already seeing results,” he added.

He urged residents to maintain peace, unity, and solidarity, emphasizing that continued harmony was essential for Zanzibar’s progress.
“Let us all be good citizens and protect our peace so that our country continues to move forward,” he said, calling on Kojani residents to vote for him and other CCM candidates, including Union presidential candidate **Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Meanwhile, CCM Deputy Secretary General (Zanzibar). Mohammed Said Mohammed (Dimwa), praised the island’s transformation, saying Kojani “of yesterday is not the same as today,” thanks to major investments in education, infrastructure, and fisheries.
He described, Mwinyi as a hardworking, God-fearing leader devoted to improving people’s lives, urging voters to give him another five-year term.
“Dr Mwinyi is not a showman; he is a truthful leader — a doctor of both development and humanity,” Dimwa said.
