Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA has confirmed its readiness to take an active role at the 26th General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), currently underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Tanzanian delegation is led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbasi.

Speaking during a preparatory session with Tanzanian experts at the country’s embassy in Riyadh, Dr Abbasi said Tanzania, as a member of the UNWTO Executive Committee, is fully prepared to contribute to discussions on advancing the global tourism sector.

He noted that the assembly will also elect a new Permanent Secretary, who will assume office in January 2026 and play a central role in driving international tourism development.

Dr Abbasi emphasized that Tanzania’s active participation reflects the country’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism growth and sharing its experience in leveraging natural resources for economic development.
