GSM: MORRISON CONTRACT EXPIRES 2022, SIMBA PLAY FOUL

AfricaPress-Tanzania: YOUNG Africans kit and merchandise suppliers GSM yesterday cemented that playmaker Bernard Morrison’s contract will end in 2022 amid claims that Simba want to hijack him.

This was a response to the recent audio clip by Morrison in which he was heard that an agent of  Simba gave him 5,000 US dollars to convince him to land at the Msimbazi Street based outfit.

“I got a message from one agent of Simba who said the club wants to sign me so that I can help them in CAF Champions League (CAF CL), games next season.

“I told him to send me the offer via my WhatsApp address but he did not and instead, he personally brought it together with 10,000 dollars which he said was sent by the club’s president such that if I accept, we should share the amount equally with him,” the clip said.

He went on: “I told him to give me enough time to go through the contract and because everybody needs money, I pocketed my share but after they heard that I have signed a two year extension contract at Yanga, the agent has been on my neck now.”

Moreover, Morrison said he has promised the agent that he will not rush into extending a new contract at Yanga when the current one expires until he talks with Simba, but the agent is insisting that he (Morrison) will have problems with the president.

“I do not know what kind of problem I will have with the president because I did not ask him to bring money for me that’s why I even proposed to send the offer on my WhatsApp page but they refused.

“He (agent) is now pressuring me not to stay here because they wanted me to play for Simba. Surely, for now, I do not know what to do maybe I should just return back the money he brought to me since I am receiving more calls and messages from him,” said Morrison in his audio clip.

But, reacting to this, GSM Investment Director, Hersi Said reiterated that Morrison is a legal player for Yanga whose contract stretches up to 2022.

“His initial contract of six months with Yanga will end next month on July 14th and the new contract he already signed will begin from July 15th this year up to July 14th 2022.

“As such, if what we are hearing from social media platforms is true, then the club will take necessary steps concerning the matter,” said him.

Meanwhile, Yanga arrived safely in the capital city Dodoma on Monday ahead of their tomorrow’s match against JKT Tanzania.

Yesterday, the squad was invited at the parliament where players had a chance to chat with members of parliament (MPs).

Meanwhile, Young Africans have sacked their secretary general, David Ruhago for irresponsibility and lack of integrity.

Ruhago, who has also served the club as a member of the club’s executive meeting in separate periods, was named the new secretary general during the club’s general election on November 11th, 2019 by the executive committee under the club’s chairman, Mshindo Msolla.
