AfricaPress-Tanzania: YOUNG Africans Head Coach Cedric Kaze blamed nobody after his side succumbed to a disappointing 3-3 draw with Kagera Sugar at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
The goal account was opened by Peter Mwalyanzi for the visitors in the 10th minute but it was levelled by Tuisila Kisinda in the 13th minute via a spot kick. In the 23rd minute, Hassan Mwaterema scored the second for Kagera Sugar but the lead was temporary as Deus Kaseke balanced the scoreboard in the 29th minute.
As this was not enough, a piercing header from Yusuph Mhilu seconds before halftime put the guests on the lead until in the 60th minute when substitute Mukoko Tonombe’s long range missile settled a 3-3 draw on the evening.
It was the third consecutive draw for Yanga in the unfolding second round of the Premier League as the path towards the championship becomes narrower game after game.
The hosts had to come from behind three times to equalise and attain one point from the difficult match to remain unbeaten at the top of the pyramid from 20 games played with 46 points.
They will again be in action tomorrow at the same venue taking on Mtibwa Sugar from Morogoro in another tense encounter where a win will be a must for them.
“I do not blame anybody from the results. We had several chances to score goals but failed to utilise them well. In football, there are three results which include a win, lose and draw. We have drawn and need to get back to see where we went wrong ahead of next matches. “The problems of failing to use scoring opportunities we make during games are happening repeatedly as such, we really need to do something to correct such mistakes,” he said.
He further disclosed that his players who played upfront lacked first pressing that is why his defense looked porous in the first half but he insisted that the problem was sorted out in the last segment. On his part, Kagera Sugar coach Mecky Mexime said he was fully content with the outcome of the match while praising his charges for a good showdown.
“I knew that the game will be difficult as we faced a big club but, when your players perform like that against a team like Yanga, you have to be happy for them. “I hope you have witnessed a good game because football is all about scoring goals and nothing less than that. When we were leading by 3-2, our tactic was to delay the match a bit but that changed after we conceded the third goal,” said him.
Kagera Sugar have since pocketed 24 points from 20 outings and they need to win more games to cement their hopes of escaping relegation next season
