Africa-Press – Uganda. The Electoral Commission Uganda has set June 10, 2026 as the polling date for the Kikuube District LC5 chairperson by-election.
The poll follows the death of former district chairperson Peter Banura Araali, who died earlier this month after succumbing to injuries sustained in a road accident.
Banura was reportedly knocked down by a speeding Toyota Hiace in Butyamba Village, Kikuube Town Council.
On April 17, the EC chairperson, Simon Byabakama, approved the programme for the by-election to replace the late Banura.
According to the roadmap, a stakeholders’ meeting and press briefing will be held on Monday next week ahead of the polls.
The display of the voters’ register at polling stations will run from May 8 to May 12, 2026, while nomination of candidates is scheduled for May 25 and May 26 at Kikuube District Headquarters.
Campaigns will run from May 28 until June 8, with polling and tallying of results set for June 10.
“The Electoral Commission calls on all stakeholders in Kikuube District to participate in the above activities in accordance with the guidelines for the by-election,” the commission said.
