Africa-Press – Uganda. I&M Bank Uganda has launched a new campaign, ‘Tukikube ne I&M Bank’, aimed at boosting financial literacy and providing tailored support to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

The campaign was unveiled during a breakfast meeting with SME clients at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Tuesday.

According to the bank, the initiative seeks to close financial literacy gaps and provide SMEs with knowledge and tools to improve their financial decision-making and business growth.

Speaking at the launch, I&M Bank CEO Robin Bairstow said the program includes a dedicated podcast featuring success stories of SMEs supported by the bank.

“We are giving entrepreneurs access to practical knowledge and tools to sustain and expand their businesses,” Bairstow noted.

A key highlight of the campaign is an asset financing offer, enabling entrepreneurs to acquire brand-new pickup trucks from Victoria Motors at a monthly payment of Shs 3.2 million.

“The pickup truck is robust and versatile—it can take you to the garden, the funeral, and even church. It is ideal for business owners,” said Emmanuel Muyunga, Deputy General Manager of Victoria Motors.

Bairstow explained that the financing package covers both the vehicle and insurance, thanks to a partnership with GA Insurance.

“Often, people say, ‘You have financed the asset, but where is the insurance?’ Now, we have bundled the two together,” he said.

In addition to asset financing, I&M Bank is offering reduced interest rates of 18% on loans over 12 months, as well as loan transfers from other banks without arrangement fees.

Edward Gibson Nangono, the bank’s Chief Business Officer, said the campaign also features on-ground engagements dubbed market storms.

“We understand that partnership means showing up. We will be where SMEs are, listening to their challenges and working with stakeholders to co-create solutions,” Nangono said.

Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank, emphasized the broader impact of SME support.

“Supporting SMEs is not just about individual business growth; it’s about fostering economic resilience and job creation in our country. By empowering businesses, we contribute to stronger communities and a more vibrant economy,” Nakiyaga said.

The launch concluded with interactive sessions between bank officials and SME clients, focusing on feedback, product development, and financial education.
