Africa-Press – Uganda. The Buganda Kingdom has released its 2025 financial report for the Luwalo Lwaffe initiative, showing that over Shs1.953 billion was collected between January and December 2025—a 16 percent increase from the previous year.

Luwalo Lwaffe is a kingdom initiative through which the Kabaka’s subjects, both Baganda and non-Baganda at home and in the diaspora, contribute funds to support key development projects at the Kingdom headquarters.

The report was presented at Bulange, Mengo, by Second Deputy Katikkiro and Kingdom Treasurer Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, who praised the people of Buganda for their unwavering commitment.

“We are grateful to the people of Buganda for responding positively to the Luwalo Lwaffe call and consistently supporting the Kingdom,” Nsibirwa said.

He noted that participation was strong, with contributions coming from all 18 counties, sub-counties, Buganda associations, schools, institutions, political groups, and individuals through organized visits to Bulange.

According to Nsibirwa, the funds were allocated to several key Kingdom development programs, including:

Completion of the Kasubi Tombs restoration

Establishment of 13 nursery schools across Buganda, supported with over Shs300 million

Improvement of services at Muteesa I Royal University Hospital in Busimbi, Ssingo, which received more than Shs196 million

Support for the Mwanyi Terimba (coffee) initiative, receiving about Shs37 million

Construction and planning of Buddu Stadium, supported with over Shs94 million

Healthcare outreach services benefiting more than 42,000 people, with over Shs43 million allocated

Kabaka Education Fund, receiving about Shs55 million for student scholarships

In addition, more than Shs88 million was used to coordinate Luwalo Lwaffe activities, and 10 percent of collections was returned to sub-counties to support local development initiatives.

The Kingdom also invested over Shs262 million in Buganda certificates and related programs aimed at strengthening institutional systems.

Kyadondo County emerged as the top contributor with more than Shs406 million, followed by Buddu with over Shs300 million and Busiro with more than Shs203 million.

“The steady growth of the initiative reflects growing trust and ownership among the Kabaka’s subjects,” Nsibirwa said.

“The continued increase in contributions shows that our people understand the importance of building a self-reliant Kingdom.”

This marks the fourth annual report since the initiative’s launch. Previous collections stood at over Shs934 million in 2022, Shs1.546 billion in 2023, and Shs1.686 billion in 2024, demonstrating consistent growth over the years.
