Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tete Antonio, is in Geneva (Switzerland) to take part in the High-Level Segment of the 61st Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday.
The High-Level Segment of the 61st Session of the Human Rights Council brings together Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and senior officials from international organizations, with the aim of strengthening multilateral dialogue on the promotion and protection of human rights, assessing the implementation of previously adopted resolutions and debating emerging global challenges.
The agenda includes peacebuilding, the impact of climate change on human rights, gender equality, combating racism and discrimination, as well as strengthening mechanisms for technical cooperation and assistance to States.
Angola’s participation in the High-Level Segment of the 61st Session of the Human Rights Council reaffirms its active role in the multilateral system, as well as its commitment to the defense and promotion of human rights at the regional and global levels.
The Angolan delegation includes the Ambassador of Angola to the Swiss Confederation, Filomena Delgado, as well as the Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in the Canton of Geneva, Ana Maria de Oliveira.
