Africa-Press – Angola. Construction work on the Luau photovoltaic solar park, with an installed capacity of 32.20 megawatts (MWp), in the municipality of Luau, province of Moxico-Leste, is expected to be completed by April of the current year, benefiting more than 100,000 inhabitants in this eastern region of the country.
The infrastructure is in the final stage of equipment assembly and is supported by 55,000 solar panels and a battery storage system with a capacity of 79.77 megawatt-hours (MWh).
According to a note from the Ministry of Energy and Water, sent, the process of connecting 20,000 households is underway in parallel, to ensure access to electricity for more than 100,000 inhabitants of that part of the national territory.
According to the note, in addition to the direct economic impact, the project will contribute significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, reinforcing Angola’s commitment to global climate change mitigation targets.
