Angola, as the chair of the African Union, has identified the issues of peace, security, infrastructure financing and stability as essential factors for driving Agenda 2063, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, said on Tuesday. Speaking at the 19th edition of Café CIPRA, with the theme “Angola at the centre of African diplomacy”, he stressed that Angola’s task is to find the accelerating factors for the materialisation of the aspirations surrounding Agenda 2063, for a developed and peaceful Africa. For this reason, he continued, Angola will organise an international conference on infrastructure financing, in order to introduce the accelerators for the aspirations defined. He also said that a conference on peace and security will be organised, as there can be no development without considering these two aspects.
According to the minister, one of the major challenges is economic integration, which necessarily involves fulfilling the premises.
According to Téte António, this dedication is for Africa to find the path to peace and prosperity.
Regarding the organisation’s theme for this year, he said that the continent has a difficult history of injustices that need to be corrected.
As for contributions, he said that, on the AU scale, Angola is among the six largest contributors to the organisation’s budget, fulfilling its statutory obligations.
Therefore, “we should not look at Angola without looking at the environment that is the African continent”, he stressed.
